Solidarity Gathering in Renfrew

Human Rights Monument on Elgin

OCTEVAW is organizing a solidarity gathering with Renfrew (WSAC) for the 3 women murdered in renfrew County in September 2016 - Anastasia, Nathalie and Carol and their families - next Tuesday May 16 at noon at the Human Rights Monument on Elgin. This will take place during the Basil Borutski pre-trial.

Another gathering will take place on the 1st day of trial Sept. 18.

2017 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend - WISE Team

It's that time again to register to run, fundraise and request donations for the 2017 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend on behalf of WISE!

Put on your running shoes and get ready to run against violence against women! WISE is participating in the 2K race (http://www.runottawa.ca/races-and-events/tamarack-ottawa-race-weekend/ot...) at 3pm on Saturday, May 27th to raise funds to support our programs but you can choose any race and still be a WISE team member!

Not a runner? You can always walk it!

Last year, our WISE team raised over $1800 to support our Legal Education Workshop for women experiencing violence.

This 25th Anniversary year, we're aiming higher! We want to
increase the number of runners and incre...ase the funding. We need your help!

Recruit your friends and families to please join our team and raise money by doing the following:

Click the following link to access the 2017 Participating Charities list. Click on the WISE logo where you have the option to "Register to Run" "Be a Fundraiser" or "Donate."


If you choose to run, select your preferred racing distance, and
click "Submit."
The next screen will require you to input personal information
Under the "Scotiabank Charity Challenge" banner, click on "Create
Personal Fundraising Web Page", where you'll be prompted to select a charity. Please select "Women's Initiatives for Safer Environments."
You will be asked to create a username and password.
Under "Acknowledgement", please click on the phrase "I acknowledge hat I have read the Terms, Conditions and Policy.

The 101 (and beyond): Enhancing Local Service Providers Response to Survivors of Gender Based Violence

Hosted by: OCTEVAW and the Sexual Assault Network 

A one day training workshop will provide introductory training to mainstream service providers on gender-based violence, and hands on skills building for screening for violence; responding to disclosures from survivors; and referrals to specialist anti-violence community resources. 

Food: Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided
